To Spank OR Not to Spank Your Kids Children

Do agree of disagree that children should be spanked, beaten, or hit when they are defiant, rude or disrespectful? After watching "The Tyra Show" today i decided that i should do this entry. Recently at my place of employment, i noticed a mother and her child. The child was throwing items off the shelves, and was disobedient when the mother told here to stop. The mother then reached her limit, and then begun to hit her child. As i listened form the adjacent isle, i noticed the mother was not stopping. She was beating her child so hard the kid was falling on the ground, and berating heavily. After the mother was satisfied and the kid and recovered from the beating the kid sat quietly and did not move until the mother was ready to leave the shore.

Personally i do believe in spanking. I also believe that spanking or beating should not be the only option when you discipline your child. Speaking and talking things out is also necessary. Yes kids need to be hit sometimes when talking is not enough. Spanking your child will help them understand not to do what they did before that was wrong.

One lady on "The Tyra Show" said all she does is talk to her child and talk away things that make him happy. Her son had broken a window in her home, and she talked to him and took away his X-box, ipod etc.
In my opinion that just makes the kid sad. Her kid should have been spanked. What he did was wrong and he needed to be disciplined.

When it all boils down to it, i believe that there should be an equal balance of both spanking, and talking to a child when disciplining them. Spanking can only do so much and so can just talking. In conclusion, different people discipline their children differently and how they want them to be raised.

What are your opinions? Do you think kids should be spanked, only talked to, or a mixture of both.
